The Vancouver Botox® Clinic, by Dr. Ward offers facial filler procedures with Juvéderm® Hylacross® and Vycross® Collections.
Juvéderm® by Allergan® is one of the top brand of hyaluronic acid facial fillers in Canada.
Please call us at 778-265-1377 (ext. 1) if you have any specific questions not answered here.
Juvéderm® is a hyaluronic acid filler that works by restoring volume to specific areas of the face. Essentially, it is used to ‘fill folds and creases’ and lasts for 6-24 months (depending on type used).
Juvéderm® comes in pre-filled syringes of 1mL each which we call vials.
There are two general classes of Juvéderm® Fillers and 7 subtypes.
Class #1: Juvéderm® Hylacross®, consisting of two subtypes: Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC
Class #2: Juvéderm® Vycross®, consisting of five subtypes: VOLBELLA®, VOLIFT®, VOLUMA®, VOLITE®, VOLUX®.
We typically treat lips, nasolabial folds, marionette lines and cheeks (these tend to be the most effective areas for treatment).
Each area often takes 1 vial to treat (to start), but sometimes more.
As nothing in aesthetics medicine is an exact science, the physician you work with may be able to modify or add on different treatment areas depending on the clinical situation.
$700 per vial of Juvéderm® Hylacross® ($675 for additional vials on the same visit).
$950 per vial of Juvéderm® Vycross® ($900 for additional vials on the same visit).
5% GST + 2.65% Square Reader Fee is added (cash accepted without the Square Reader fee).
There is a $100 'no show' fee for fillers, which also applies to appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours of notice.
There are no minimum, hidden, or consultation fees.
All filler bookings have to be made by phone (778-265-1377, option #1). Please do not book online for this service.
Appointments are ~30 minutes. Please arrive 20-30 minutes early if you would like some topical lidocaine/freezing applied (see below).
Please still book only by phone (778-265-1377 ext. 1) so we can schedule a 15 minute appointment with the doctor, rather then the typical 30 minute one. There is no charge for consultations.
Hylacross® Juvéderm® (Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC) are sort of the classic, "tried and true" fillers made by Allergan®. They can essentially be used in any area of the face for excellent results that last up to 12 months.
The Vycross® collection of Juvéderm® (VOLBELLA®, VOLIFT®, VOLUMA®, VOLITE®, VOLUX®) represent the latest innovation in hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. These products have been designed using a unique, patented combination of low- and high-molecular weight hyaluronic acid technology for more efficient 'cross-linking.' This may result in less swelling, enhanced smoothness, and longer duration when compared to the more traditional Hylacross® Juvéderm® fillers (treatment effects with Vycross® can last up to 24 months).
Hylacross® Juvéderm® fillers (Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC) are still the #1 brand of fillers sold and used in Canada. However, they don’t tend to last as long as the Vycross® collection and do not allow for quite as advanced aesthetics techniques / treatments.
Depending on where treatment is desired, certain Vycross® subtypes work better in specific areas.
For instance, VOLUMA® is often used as a cheek filler to lift, project and volumize. In contrast, VOLIFT® is great for improving laugh lines, whereas VOLBELLA® is preferred for the undereye region.
Your physician will review and discuss the different options available on consultation.
Yes.
The cost remains $700 per vial of Juvéderm® Hylacross® ($675 for additional vials on the same visit) and $950 per vial of Juvéderm® Vycross® ($925 for additional vials on the same visit).
Vycross® and Hylacross® pricing goes by the total number of vials used in each category (even if mixing subtypes).
These are more expensive products to buy from the manufacturer (Allergan®) when compared to the more traditional Hylacross® fillers (Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC).
Typically, Vycross® fillers last longer (12-24 months), create less swelling and bruising, and may provide somewhat better lift and projection in the face.
Your physician will discuss the different types of Vycross® and recommend the ones that will work best for each individual. We charge only by the total number of vials used (even if different Vycross® subtypes are used on the same individual).
Of note, Hylacross® fillers can also be used at the same time as Vycross® fillers.
Typically, 6-12 months.
Typically, 12-24 months.
Yes. We are able to provide a receipt which patients can then use in the Brilliant Distinctions® program.
Patients are asked to arrive with no makeup, sunscreen, moisturizer or foundation on their face. Please have your hair tied back and face carefully washed right before treatment.
If you have had facial fillers before, it is important to tell the doctor when this was done, the type of fillers used, and the location injected (adding a different type of filler to an already existing one can sometimes lead to the formation of granulomas / "scarring").
Avoid vigorous exercise, alcohol and the sun for 24 hours after treatment.
Consider sleeping with a 'travel pillow' so that you do not push your face into the bed at night.
Apply ice to the treated area(s) multiple times over a 48-72 hour period.
Yes. We may use cannulas when injecting certain areas of the face and this can result in a better safety profile.
Any medical procedure has risk for complications, and Juvéderm® is no different. Carefully review the Informed Consent sheet and ask any questions you may have with the Medical Doctor.
Patients can almost always expect swelling for a few days after treatment (especially the lips) and may have bruising as well (use lots of ice after the procedure is done).
Cold sores are also known to reoccur after having the lips treated, so make sure to speak to the doctor if you are prone to these.
Serious side effects include facial blood clots (with tissue necrosis or scaring) and although very rare, blindness.
No. Only Medical Doctors perform this procedure at our clinics.
Currently, Drs. Ward, Levesque, Elnagmy, Vallée, and Wright perform Juvedérm® Fillers at British Columbia Botox® Clinics, by Dr. Ward.
Fillers are a more advanced cosmetic procedure, and although we treat the more 'simple' areas at our clinic, sometimes the final cosmetic result (at the 2 week mark) is still not the ideal look for the patient.
Once injected, the Juvéderm we use has the ability to be 'molded' for up to 24 hours after the procedure. However once set, there is nothing more that can be done to change the final look of the filler(s) for the next 6-24 months (apart from reversal, see below).
In such a scenario, we do offer a free reversal with hyaluronidase (as long as the original filler procedure was done at our clinic). This process typically takes 1-2 weeks to 'break down' the injected filler and may require multiple treatments.
We do require a photograph to be taken of the patient prior to all filler procedures, as well as afterwards if there is a complication / undesired cosmetic effect. Photo(s) will only be used for medical documentation.
IMPORTANT: We will not provide any refund and/or complementary vial(s) for undesired cosmetic effects. This is simply a potential risk of any cosmetic medical procedure.
First and foremost, if you are ever seriously unwell and need to seek immediate medical attention, call 911 or attend your local Emergency Department.
Otherwise, please contact our clinic immediately by phone and one of our doctors will get back to you.
